"Kimberly Woodbury leads our JYG. Kim has extensive experience working with young people. She is a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal Church and comes to this task with great joy and enthusiasm.
Pastor Jeff works with our Sr. High School group which is even now planning a work trip to the gulf coast to help with the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina.
We are very intentional about ministry to our young people. Our Sunday School regularly sees an attendance of 90 children and is often recognized as the strongest ministry in the church. In addition to the Sunday School, we network with the neighboring Lutheran Church in offering a music ministry to youngsters. And if you’ve never seen an Easter Egg Hunt at sea, then just look at the picture to see how it works.
The congregation enthusiastically supports ministry to our teens. Two youth groups are offered – the JYG for young people in grades 6 through 8, and XYG (eXamine Your God), for young people in high school. Between 40 and 50 teens participate. Each group typically meets twice a month for discussion, play, service, interaction and almost always … food. During five of the last six years the XYG has served as a mission team to the Dominican Republic and one year to New York City.
